2007 Dodge Charger R/T

Was driving home and car started to get hot. I stopped the car and the temp gauge went all the way to C. So I started it up and engine  sounded great, temp gauge stayed on C. I had two stop signs and then I slowed down to turn in my drive and it died. At that point the tank was hot so I pushed it in driveway. This morning went to start it and it had a loud noise clanking in the front and won’t stay running. I’m thinking timing chain because it was OK when it died. Unsure.

Sounds about right. I would remove the serpentine belt and start it up again to make sure it is an internal noise before digging into the timing chain.

2012 Dodge Avenger

My Electronic Throttle Control light is blinking on my 2012 Dodge Avenger. What does this mean?

Electronic Throttle Control light is blinking

Since the light is blinking it would indicate a serious problem and also indicate a code has been stored. It sounds like a problem with either the APP, Throttle Body, PCM or wiring. (APP is Accelerator Pedal Position sensor, it’s part of the accelerator pedal assembly, serviced as an assembly with the pedal). Probably do need to get it scanned at a dealership to see what codes are popping up. Therefore the next best course of action would be to pull the codes and proceed from there.

Electronic Throttle Body Removal

electronic throttle body removal
CAUTION:
Never have the ignition key in the ON position when checking the throttle body shaft for a binding condition. This may set DTC’s.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the resonator.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) (2) and disengage the ETC harness from the clip (4) on the throttle body.
  4. Remove four throttle body mounting bolts (3).
  5. Remove the throttle body from the upper intake manifold.
  6. Check the condition of the throttle body-to-intake manifold seal. The seal can be reused if not damaged.

2006 Dodge SprinterI get a 219d code on the dash when I start the vehicle. It disappears after about 1 minute. I have a diesel. Do you know what it means.

Dodge Code P2190 – Bank 1 AFR imbalance

The engine control module (ECM) controls the air/fuel metering system in order to provide the best possible combination of driveability, fuel economy, and emission control. Fuel delivery is controlled differently during Open Loop and Closed Loop. During Open Loop, the ECM determines fuel delivery based on sensor signals without heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) input. During Closed Loop, the ECM adds HO2S inputs to calculate the short and long term fuel trim (FT) adjustments. If the HO2S indicates a lean condition, the fuel trim values will be above 0 percent. If the HO2S indicates a rich condition, the FT values will be below 0 percent. The short term FT values change rapidly in response to the HO2S voltage signals. The long term FT makes coarse adjustments in order to maintain an air/fuel ratio of 14.7:1.

Code P2190 Possible causes

•Leaking fuel injector or pressure regulator
•High fuel pressure condition
•Faulty Oxygen (O2) Sensor
•Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor

Dodge DakotaHow to remove and replace driver side front door window motor and assembly?

Window Motor Removal

The power window motor and mechanism is integral to the power window regulator unit. If the power window motor or mechanism is faulty or damaged, the entire power window regulator unit must be replaced.

Window Regulator Removal

1.Remove glass from door.
2.Disengage power window motor wire connector from door harness, if equipped (POWER REGULATOR).
window regulator1 – SCREW
2 – SCREW
3 – POWER WINDOW REGULATOR

3.Loosen bolts in slotted holes attaching regulator to door inner panel (POWER REGULATOR BOLTS).
window motor regulator1 – REMOVE BOLTS
2 – LOOSEN BOLTS
3 – DOOR INNER PANEL

4.Remove bolts attaching window regulator to inner door panel.
5.Extract window regulator through access hole in inner door panel.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500So we have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 5.9 engine. It runs fine, except in rain. When it rains or has rained, it will turn over but not start. Disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes generally fixes it. My theory would be a distributor cap or intake manifold, but i really have no idea. Thanks!

Wont start in the rain

A complete tune up would be a good place to start especially if it has been a while. If disconnecting the battery fixes it the issue may be a bit different. It is possible that the connections at the battery are corroded or damaged. Next time it rains and won’t start see if wiggling the wires at the battery while someone cranks it over causes it to start. If it does, clean all the connectors and wiring at the battery.

Dodge DynastyI changed fuel filter and pump. My car continues to stall and has bad pre ignition (continues to try to run after shut off). What would your next move be in the repair process?

This can be caused from poor fuel or too low of octane. This can also occur when the ignition timing is off. Or both.

1997 Dodge Ram 1500My air wont blow thru vents

Either your vents are blocked, disconnected or the blower motor is not coming on. If it is the blower motor that is not coming on at all you may need to replace the blower motor and or the blower motor resistor.

If you find the blower motor working, the temperature blend door actuator  or the door itself may be at fault.

BLOWER MOTOR

When the ignition switch is in the RUN position, circuit C11 from the blower motor relay provides voltage to the blower motor.

From the blower motor, circuit C7 splices to the blower motor resistor and the A/C-Heater control switch.

The ground path for the blower motor is through the circuits that connect from the blower motor resistor block and then through the fan switch in the A/C-heater controls to circuit Z3. The blower motor resistor block consists of three resistors connected in series.

Each resistor in blower motor resistor block is spliced to the fan switch on separate circuits; C4, C5, C6, and C7. Depending on fan switch position, voltage passes through one or more resistors to ground. Blower motor fan speed is controlled by the number of resistors voltage passes through to ground.

When the fan switch is in the LOW position, circuit C4 provides the ground path. In the M1 position, circuit C5 provides ground. In the M2 position, the ground path is through circuit C6. Circuit C7 provides path for ground when the switch is in the HIGH position.

BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR

The blower motor resistor is mounted to the heater-A/C housing, under the instrument panel and just inboard of the blower motor. It can be accessed without removing any other components.

The resistor has multiple resistor wires, each of which will change the resistance in the blower motor ground path to change the blower motor speed. The blower motor switch directs the ground path through the correct resistor wire to obtain the selected blower motor speed.

With the blower motor switch in the lowest speed position, the ground path for the motor is applied through all of the resistor wires. Each higher speed selected with the blower motor switch applies the blower motor ground path through fewer of the resistor wires, increasing the blower motor speed. When the blower motor switch is in the highest speed position, the blower motor resistor is bypassed and the blower motor receives a direct path to ground.

The blower motor resistor cannot be repaired and, if faulty or damaged, it must be replaced.

Dodge DakotaI have a 1994 Dodge Dakota SPORT in
3.9 v-6 five speed
When I take off in first gear my shifter goes to the right. Is it one of my motor mounts and if so which one and if it is something else please tell me what yu think
Note
It only does this in first gear only and it makes a bump sound as well.

Response

It is possible it could be a bad mount(engine or transmission). Put on jack stands with all four wheels off ground and have someone imitate the situation while you inspect the mounts.
